Before you book a brand photographer, you need to have time.
There are many ways to prepare for a brand session, but perhaps the most important one of them all is ensuring that you have the time in your schedule to actually commit. You might be thinking “how long can taking a few photos really take?”. What I mean is time for things beyond the actual photography session.
TIME FOR PLANNING
The first thing you will need to carve out time for is the planning aspect. In order to have a successful session, planning is required. Here at Levi & Victoria Creative, we take on a major role in this, guiding you through questionnaires, creating a moodboard & shotlist for you, and depending on the length of the session, determining a timeline of the day. Despite our guiding these steps, they are a two-way street. Questionnaires need to be filled out by YOU, telling us all about your brand and what your vision is for the shoot. Shotlists & moodboards need your approval.
The reason for allll this planning is that it is SO important for us to be on the same page BEFORE the shoot. This helps the shoot to run smoothly and gets you all the content that you actually need. We are just guessing and making things up on the fly.
TIME TO USE THOSE PHOTOS
The second thing you need to anticipate is when you receive your gallery. There is nothing more heartbreaking when we deliver a full gallery of content, but you are much too busy to sort through your favourite photos and actually implement them. We want you to use these images to their fullest potential, which is why scheduling out a few hours to sit down, sort out your favourites, save them in a safe place & maybe even schedule a few to post on Instagram!
TIME FOR THE SESSION
The third time commitment is of course, the actual session, but honestly, this is often the part of booking a brand photographer that is the shortest!
TO SUM IT ALL UP:
Brand Sessions require time beyond the actual shoot
Planning is what will take up a large portion of time
While your photographer takes the lead on planning, your input is the most important part of a successful session
Make sure you schedule time to actually use your photos
