Kelowna Engagement Photography | Riley & Abby

There is nothing like getting to capture photos for someone you have known for what feels like forever. We have known Riley since 2012 and had lots of great memories together.

Abby is originally from New Brunswick, so they have spent the last months of their relationship doing long-distance. During a recent trip to BC we were lucky to have an evening of perfect light: golden hour glow, long shadows & temperatures *just* warm enough to take off our coats.

Our Approach to Engagement Photography:

When it comes to crafting an engagement session experience, we try to interweave elements that feel fun, modern & true to the couple.

For this one we brought some 33 acres pale ales (hashtag not sponsored) and chose to do two locations to give a large variety of images.

Lighting choices:

Natural Golden Hour light:

Of course this can’t be beat. The rooftop offered the perfect location to capture Riley & Abby in the Kelowna sunshine right as it was setting over the mountain. The light flares and soft lighting created a romantic feel to the images.

Natural Dusk moonlight:

Due to the fact that this was a perfectly clear night, a small sliver of the moon peeked out right as we headed to our second location. There is only a couple of these silhouetted images, but they are some of my favorites from the session

After Dark Flash:

Riley and Abby are both upbeat, happy & fun people and I wanted to share that through these flash images. The flash images were taken at the end of the session when they had warmed up to being in front of the camera which is when I like to do more experimental posing as well as just letting them be! We play fun music during this time & try to cultivate a good time!
