Crafting a brand photography shot list is essential for having a good brand session. From my experiences, the most important part of a brand session is the planning. The more prepared you are ahead of time, the better it will be.
(P.S. If you haven’t heard the word “shot list” before, it is a term to describe all the different images you want to get during a session)
Who this is for
This shot list can be used if you are a Brand Photographer, or if you have a personal brand and trying to plan for a brand session! This list is definitely catered more towards a personal brand. Let’s get into it
The Shot List
Photo of you (basic, headshot style)
Photo of you, close up, showcasing your personality (funny face, smiling big)
Photo of you, close up, with a prop that makes sense for you (coffee, camera, makeup brush)
Photo of you from farther away, showcasing your product or service
Photo you can use for your website header (horizontal, negative space to write text)
Photo flaylay style of items relevant to your niche
“filler style” photos that are on brand
Photo of any printed collateral you have (business card, brochure, magazine feature)
How to use this list:
Use this as a starting point to craft your own shot list & drawn inspiration from. Adjust and add for what makes sense for your business! I strongly recommend printing off a shot list for your brand session
PRO TIP: you can also screenshot the shot list and set it as your phone background if you are more of a digital person
