Jillian Harris’s Kelowna Airbnb
If you are in need of the perfect Kelowna staycation, Jillian Harris’s Airbnb is the perfect base. It is walking distance from downtown, and has the most details I have ever seen in a rental property!
Just an FYI, this was not a paid or sponsored trip—we paid for this entirely on our own.
The Reason Why
I met Sarah & Cassidy just over a year ago. I had just gone “full time” with my business and was in desperate need of some business friends. It all started by a few dms and messages. Upon meeting each of them, I knew that this was the start of a great business relationship, but always had hoped that in the future we might be able to actually be friends!
Over the past year, all three of us have remained friends, collaborated on styled shoots & chatted about the highs and lows of the industry.
I asked them if they would be interested in spending a few days intentionally talking about our businesses, taking a mini-break from the day-to-day of business. Within a few days, we lined up our schedules & booked this adorable apartment downtown.
Format of our weekend
There isn’t a whole lot of information out there when it comes to planning something like this, but this is what worked well for us! We didn’t have our schedule set to the minute or anything, but used it as a rough guide
First Night:
Checked in, had a chill night of charcuterie, drinks & a walk down by the lake
Second Day:
Got ready for the day, went out for brunch at Diner Delux
Came back to the apartment, spent a few hours taking brand photos. Normally I am always the one taking photos, so it was SO nice to have Sarah & Cassidy take some of me! This part of the day involved a lot of outfit changes, browsing Pinterest for posing inspiration, and using the cute dishes as props.
We then got into the “business chat” time in which we all took turns sharing. We went over our goals for the upcoming year, each having time and space to talk about different ideas or struggles we had and the other two offering suggestions or encouragement. We also wrote down each other’s goals to help hold one another accountable and check-in as the year goes on!
The rest of the evening was spent making more food, casually chatting about ideas, dreaming up businesses & watching wedding videos for fun.
Third Day:
In the morning, I spent some time out on the patio overlooking Kelowna. As I sipped my foamy cappuccino I reflected on the year that it has been. Hard to believe last year at this time I hadn’t even moved from Salmon Arm.
There was a little mix-up when it came to checking out, but thankfully a very kind girl in the apartment helped us get out, which we were very grateful for! We all went our separate ways, but I have already felt so refreshed and inspired to continue to cultivate community as well as work on my business after all the ideas I came up with while away.
In conclusion
Sometimes we need to be away from our regular routine to feel inspired and get the creativity flowing. Looking for an adventure in the little things like this always helps me feel rejuvenated and ready to get back to business.
